The evidence for our morality-powered-civilization-engine-drive is found not just in ancient cave paintings and artifacts but is buried deep in our neurology. We know today that neglect and abuse in the early years not only physically deforms and shrinks the brain but also reduces the number of neural links which leads to damaging lifelong impairment. This damage causes infant PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) ensuring a life spent battling addictions, eating disorders, suicidal tendencies, and most significantly, a fundamental inability to form any emotional connections thus removing the ability to see ourselves in others and others in ourselves - disrupting the very mechanism for our success as a species and happiness as an individual homo sapiens.

The reason why natural selection fails to weed out this fatal dependency on love in homo sapiens infants and allows it to propagate generation after generation is because it is this very dependency that is responsible for our neural superpower - our neural plasticity that has supercharged our innovative evolutionary success story while at the same defined our humanity. Why we are a 70,000-year success story not a 3000-year-old failed experiment in dogmatic thought.

Dogma has us ignoring this simple evidence of our lived experience and has turned women and children into property ensuring fascism and tyranny is the only acceptable social organizations because a world built on the continued subjugation and abuse of more than half the world’s population will only give rise to fascist structures. Our inability as a species to break out of cycles of fascist systems of governance have us reliving the same nightmare every generation and repeating it over and over the last three thousand years.
